The markets today open sharply lower after a few days of upward rally. The selling pressure witnessed among the selective scrips in the early trade mainly led by the Realty, Metal, IT, Oil & Gas and Pharma stocks. However, the FMCG index managed to trade marginally higher in the early trade. The BSE Mid Cap and the Small Cap are also trading lower in the opening trade.
BSE Sensex is now trading below the 10,200 mark and the NSE Nifty is hovering around the 3,000 mark.
The overall market breadth is negative as 578 stocks are advancing whereas 924 stocks are declining on BSE.
BSE Sensex was down by 182.21 points at 10,155.47 and the Nifty was down by 43.80 points to 3,000.05.
The BSE Mid Cap decreased by 29.32 points to 3,326.21 and the BSE Small Cap slipped by 15.90 points to 3,911.20.
