प्रसिद्ध प्रौद्योगिकी ब्लॉग ‘टेकक्रंच’ ने इस संबंध में रिपोर्ट प्रकाशित की है। रिपोर्ट के अनुसार आगामी दो हफ्ते में यह सौदा हो जाने की सम्भावना है। इस सौदे के बाद डिग, गूगल न्यूज के बैनर तले काम करेगी।

रिपोर्ट के अनुसार गूगल अपने सर्च इंजन को डिग की प्रौद्योगिकी द्वारा और भी लोकप्रिय बनाने को लेकर उत्साहित है। दरअसल, डिग में खबरों को पाठकों द्वारा रैंकिंग दी जाती है।

समाचार एजेंसी डीपीए के अनुसार डिग की स्थापना वर्ष 2004 में केविन रोज ने की थी। फिलहाल यह वेबसाइट विश्व की एक सौ लोकप्रिय वेबसाइट की श्रेणी में शामिल है।

San Francisco: Internet search leader Google has signed a letter of intent with Digg to purchase the social news site for around $200 million, the influential technology blog TechCrunch reported Tuesday.

The report said the deal would be finalized within two weeks and that Digg would continue to operate as part of the Google News operation, which already runs one of the most popular news sites on the web.

In contrast to Google News, where the stories are selected by computer algorithm, Digg's news stories are submitted by users and ranked according to user approval ratings.
