हिन्दी रूपांतर कलकत्ता : जनवरी और मई के बीच भारत ने इस साल २४०.२ मिलियन किलो चाय का उत्पादन किया है । जबकि पिछले साल भारत ने २२६.४ मिलियन किलो चाय का उत्पादन किया था । इस साल भारत ने १.२६ प्रतिशत की ब्रिधि दर्ज किया है । दक्षिण भारत में इसका उत्पादन १३.६ प्रतिश्त और उत्तर भारत में इसका उत्पादन १.२६ प्रतिश्त है । इसी समय केन्या में इसका उत्पादन २१.५ प्रतिशत गिरकर १३४.६ मिलियन किलो । लेकिन श्रीलंका में इसका उत्पादन २० प्रतिश्त बढ़कर १४४ मिलियन किलो और बांग्लादेश में ३.१ प्रतिश्त बढ़कर १०.३ मिलियन किला रहा । जिम्बाबे में इसका उत्पादन ३४.८ प्रतिश्त , उगांडा में ३२.२ प्रतिश्त और तंजानिया में इसका उत्पादन १०.१ प्रतिश्त रहा । पुरे विश्व में चाय का उत्पादन १.५ प्रतिश्त कम रहा । पिछले साल ५.४ प्रतिश्त ब्रिधि हुई ।

Kolkata: Between January and May this year, India produced 240.2 million kg (mkg) of tea as evaluated to 226.4 mkg in the same period of 2007, thus reporting 6.1 per cent growth. The output in South Indian gardens was increased by 13.6 per cent at 97.4 mkg (85.7 mkg) and in North Indian gardens by 1.6 per cent at 142.9 mkg (140.7 mkg). During the same period, the output in Kenya fell by 21.5 per cent at 134.6 mkg (171.5 mkg). But output in Sri Lanka was increased by 20 per cent at 144 mkg (122 mkg) and in Bangladesh by 3.1 per cent at 10.3 mkg (10 mkg). The figures available till March suggest that the production in Zimbabwe fell by 34.8 per cent at 4.5 mkg (6.9 mkg), Uganda by 32.2 per cent at 6.3 mkg (9.3 mkg) and Tanzania by 10.1 per cent at 10.7 mkg (11.9 mkg). The production till April was down in Malawi by three per cent at 25.9 mkg (26.7 mkg) and in Indonesia by 9.6 per cent at 25.9 mkg (28.7 mkg). The total world tea production thus was lower by 1.5 per cent at 602.4 mkg (611.3 mkg). In first five months of 2008, India exported 66 mkg of tea, moved up from 62.6 mkg in the same period last year recording a growth of 5.4 per cent.
