सुब्बाराव बने रिजर्व बैंक के नए गवर्नर - सितम्बर 02 , 2008

डी.सुब्बाराव रिजर्व बैंक के नए गवर्नर होंगे। वो मौजूदा गवर्नर वाई.वी.रेड्डी की जगह लेंगे। सुब्बाराव जुलाई 2007 से वित्तीय सचिव के पद पर हैं। आज वित्तमंत्री पी.चिदम्बरम ने उनकी नई जिम्मेदारी का ऐलान कर दिया।

हालांकि आरबीआई गवर्नर के रुप में सुब्बाराव के अलावा अन्य कई लोगों के नाम की भी चर्चा थी। चर्चा थी कि मौजूदा गवर्नर वाई.वी.रेड्डी का कार्यकाल ही आगे बढ़ाया जा सकता है या फिर डिप्टी गवर्नर मोहन राकेश को भी गवर्नर बनाया जा सकता है।

लेकिन बढ़ती महंगाई के इस दौर में सरकार ने सुब्बाराव पर ज्यादा भरोसा जताया है। सुब्बाराव नए गवर्नर के रुप में पांच सितम्बर से कामकाज सम्भालेंगे।

New Delhi: The Finance Secretary, Dr Duvvuri Subbarao, will be the next Reserve Bank of India Governor, replacing, the Union Finance Minister, P Chidambaram, announced here on Monday.“Dr Subbarao will be appointed for a period of three years. The RBI Act allows for appointment up to five years. He will be appointed for three years. He will be eligible for re-appointment”, Chidambaram told reporters.

Meanwhile, Chidambaram used the opportunity of announcement of Dr Subbarao’s appointment as RBI Governor to place on record the Government’s “deep appreciation” for the services rendered by Dr Reddy firstly as Deputy Governor and then as Governor of the central bank.
